We invite you to create an office project for the terrace of your house.
The deadline to apply is the 19th of July.
Today, the 29th of March, the GANDIABLASCO 15th International Outdoor Furniture Design Contest officially starts. After the 2021 break due to the pandemic, it returns one of the reference recognitions for emerging designers in the field of outdoor furniture and accessories design.
Since 2006, this event is held annually to promote and propel the work of students and design professionals aged 18-35, from around the world, who are at the beginning of their career. Participants can submit their applications individually or in a group until the 19th of July 2022.
This time, applicants face the challenge of designing an outdoor office. According to the rules of the competition, the designs must be an unpublished proposal, which has not been submitted to other competitions or previously featured; it has to be reproducible industrially and, finally, produced by avoiding the use of any plastic material that is not 100% recyclable.
Since its inception, the jury of the GANDIABLASCO International Outdoor Furniture Design Contest brings together professionals from the fields of culture, design and from the industrial sector of furniture.
In previous years, although always chaired by José A. Gandía-Blasco, we had the pleasure to meet at La casa Gandia Blasco great professionals that we admire like: Fuensanta Nieto, Architect at the Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos Studio, and Manuel Aires Mateus, Architect and founder of the Aires Mateus architecture studio; designers such as: Ángel Schlesser, fashion designer, or Helena Rohner, jewelry designer in the studio Helena Rohner; entrepreneurs such as: Marcelo Ghio, director of Experimenta, or David Leppan, founder and CEO of World-Check, art collector and philanthropist; as well as experts of the sector such as Jesús M. Castaño García-Porrero, director of the Martin Chirino Foundation of Art and Thought in Las Palmas, Javier Abio, Co-Director and partner of the Neo2 magazine, Vicente Todolí, ex-director of Tate Modern & art curator, y Juan Molins, art critic and curator of exhibitions.
In our fifteenth edition, the experts who will evaluate the nominations are José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, president and creative director of Gandia Blasco S.A.; Álvaro Matías, CEO of ALMADÁS and Director of Madrid Design Festival; Marta Alonso & Imanol Calderón, Founding architects and designers of Mayice Studio; Marisa Santamaría, Researcher, teacher and disseminator of global design trends; and Mariví Calvo & Sandro Tothill, Co-Founder and Creative Director at LZF, and Co-Founder and CCO at LZF (Spain’s National Design Award 2020).
The members of the jury will study the projects submitted and designate the winner taking into account aspects such as creativity and innovation, the functionality of the design and its ability to fit an outdoor space.
The first and second prize consists of an endowment of €2,000 and €1,000 along with an honorary mention from GANDIABLASCO. The ruling will take place in early September at La casa Gandia Blasco and the winners will be announced during the Habitat Valencia Fair, which will take place between the 20th and the 23rd of the same month, coinciding with one of the most intense months of the World Design Capital València 2022 program.
