ONSEN is a contemporary classic devised by Francesco Meda & David Quincoces. A proposal that dialogues with nature and architecture, and that stands out for its experimentation in the use of exterior materials with contrasting properties that maintain their natural elegance although reminiscent of artisanal tanning.
ONSEN is a collection of outdoor furniture of gentle and elegant beauty that includes elements made with stainless steel, leather and outdoor fabrics. Together they create a balanced combination, where the hardness of steel coexists with the warmth of leather and a selection of fabrics with natural tones.
“ONSEN’s success is that it has been the result of a long research process that has taken us into unexplored land and has led to innovations both in construction techniques and in the selection of materials”, Meda details.
The soul of the sculptural furniture is a tubular structure in matt stainless steel of high resistance and durability covered by special outdoor leather straps that interweave the sculptural volumetry in steel and create, on the outside, a sensual play of shadows with the projected geometry of the girths.
The mats are made with polyurethane foam rubber and microfiber top filling covered with waterproof fabric. The exterior upholstery is removable and is made with an acrylic fabric edging that gives it its own personality among the wide offer of our outdoor collections.
Now, the ONSEN series is being expanded with new designs that are integrated into the sculptural spaces of Xavier Corberó in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona. The geometry and purism of the new ONSEN pieces lack those superfluous ornaments and instead dialogue with the nakedness of the space, with a brutalist aesthetic, enriching the volume and the feeling of infinity to which the Catalan artist aspired, creating different outdoor spaces where one can enjoy the appreciated natural light, so praised in the architecture of the Mediterranean.
A contemporary classic. ONSEN’s discrete language mentions raw materials that refer to nature and contemplation. For this reason, the furniture is integrated into the architectural spaces of hotels, private terraces, interior patios, porches and other types of interior and exterior spaces that flee from decorative opulence. An invitation to relax in connection with the essential values of life.
