GANDIABLASCO x Kengo Kuma

September 30, 2022 | Fairs /

From September 20th to 23rd, coinciding with one of the most meeting with the World Design Capital Valencia, in GANDIABLASCO did not want to miss our appointment with the Feria Habitat to introduce the new outdoor furniture collections.

The stand designed exclusively for Gandia Blasco Group by Kengo Kuma has warmly welcomed all those media, collaborators and professionals from the sector to accompany us. The modular space has adapted to Feria Valencia the architectural concept that was used in the Salone del Mobile Milano 2022 and has taken shape again thanks to the repurposing of wooden shutters from Valencia from the original construction, which are arranged as latticework evoking the sudare of Japanese architecture.

ISLABLANCA, one of the new collections conceived by our creative director José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, has unveiled its designs inspired by the purity of Ibizan vernacular architecture, which include a printed glass finish. To that end Alejandra Gandía-Blasco, artist and Creative and Communication Deputy Director of the Gandia Blasco Group, has exhibited a selection of her works —studies of color based on sunsets in different geolocations such asComporta, a flight to Paris, Playa de San Juan or Ibiza— embodied in printed glass in an installation in our space at Habitat Valencia.

Throughout the exhibition itinerary projected by Kuma, the award-winning ISLA series by Sebastian Herkner, Herkner was also shown, which, made up of small irregular islands, reinterprets the typical Strandkörbe beach chairs of northern Germany from a modern approach. BOSC, from Made Studio, has landed in Valencia with its simple solution, capable of transmitting the Mediterranean lifestyle and transferring the essence of wicker grilles, through a contemporary abstraction, to the subtlety of aluminum.

On their behalf, ONDE, by Luca Nichetto,
and ONSEN, from the tandem formed by Francesco Meda and David Quincoces, have demonstrated the hybrid nature of these iconic and timeless collections, as they are designed to work just as well in outdoor spaces as indoors. Finally, GB MODULAR, the new line of modular furniture by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales in which the design of a patented joining system explores the maximum reduction of waste materials.

Thank you very much, for staying together with GANDIABLASCO at the ‘Made in Spain’ habitat fair during such a special year.
