GANDIABLASCO and the highlights of our presence at the memorable Salone Mobile.Milano 2022

June 14, 2022 | Company / Events / Fairs /

The links with contemporary architecture and crafts, innovation in construction systems and materials by great designers and the commitment to durability and sustainability have marked the participation of GANDIABLASCO in the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2022.

The great international design fair, particularly special this year for its bolstered comeback in its usual format after the pandemic, has welcomed more than 262.000 visitors from 173 countries. An ideal setting to present the latest GANDIABLASCO designs. New collections conceived by prestigious designers with which to explore new ways of living outside in connection with the environment and of focusing on social interaction and well-being in open spaces.

A very personal interpretation of the Mediterranean lifestyle of GANDIABLASCO by the master of architecture Kengo Kuma

GANDIABLASCO has been part of the 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile with an exhibition space of a sculptural nature designed exclusively by the master Kengo Kuma. Having a space conceived by one of the best contemporary architects, is a dream come true for a brand that, since its inception, has admired the sensitivity of Kuma, expert in wood working, for local materials, crafts and nature.

José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales was partnered in Milan by different members of the team of Kengo Kuma & Associates, and together they presented the stand of the Gandia Blasco Group. A project that combines Japanese handcraft heritage with the company’s Mediterranean roots through the use of local materials: an indisputable hallmark of Kuma’s work. Soft wooden latticework were hanging and fluidly delimiting the different areas of the space, just as Kuma employs the sudare -traditionally used in Japanese architecture and in some of his works. Light filtered through semi-transparent separations, as do the traditional Mallorcan blinds of the Mediterranean coast houses that have often been an inspiration to GANDIABLASCO.

More than outdoor furniture. Life in Open Spaces by Todd Bracher, José A. Gandía-Blasco, Luca Nichetto, Sebastian Herkner, Francesco Meda & David Quincoces

Once again, GANDIABLASCO has been lucky enough to include in its universe outdoor furniture collections designed by outstanding professionals admired by the brand, such as Todd Bracher, Luca Nichetto, Sebastian Herkner, Francesco Meda, David Quincoces and José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, our President and Creative Director.

MASS is the fruit of our first collaboration with New York designer Todd Bracher, known for his essentialist approach and the relevance of user experience in each of his projects. To provide a modular, flexible and timeless solution that responds to new ways of space planning, with a view to fostering interaction and communication flow: this is the purpose of MASS and its independent seating modules and backrests.

ONSEN timeless designs that have been seen in Milan, contemporary classics devised by Francesco Meda and David Quincoces, devise a proposal that dialogues with nature and architecture and that stands out for the experimentation in the use of exterior materials with contrasting properties, by maintaining its natural elegance with some reminiscences of artisanal tanning. On the other hand, ONDE, by Luca Nichetto, has presented the new pieces of the collection, a hybrid proposal between outdoor and office furniture, which combines the Nordic style with the distinctive Italian design and it challenges the boundaries between exterior and interior.

ISLA, the awarded design by Sebastian Herkner for GAN Outdoor in 2020 — Archiproducts Design Award 2020 and Best of Year Awards 2020 in the Outdoor category —, is integrated into the GANDIABLASCO catalogue. Its three irregular modules are inspired by the organic forms of the Spanish islands Menorca, Gomera and Arosa, and they work independently as sofas or they can be combined to give shape to multiple configurations.

IBZ, by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales is in its essence, Ibiza, the island where the designer and President of Gandia Blasco SA has been living for more than 20 years. Its cubic and essential lines evoke the purity of forms and the traditional volumetry of Ibizan vernacular architecture, a legacy that throughout the centuries have fascinated great architects, photographers, musicians and writers, and to which IBZ pays tribute by extolling the dignity and simplicity of these constructions.

“One profile, infinite furniture.” With this postulate José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales has designed the new GB MODULAR line, based on the concepts of modularity and the use of aluminium profiles with a minimalist aesthetic. The collection starts from the improvement of the construction system designed by Gandía-Blasco Canales himself and his team more than 20 years ago, to build the first collections of outdoor furniture that made the Spanish brand known on an international scale.

Our most sincere thanks to the whole team for their dedication, to the great designers and architects who are part of the GANDIABLASCO family along with their creations, and to all those people who have come to see us during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, and whom we feel extremely lucky to have met again.

We hope to see you again, very soon, to enjoy the outdoor life.
