PASSION OF OUTDOOR – More than furniture, a lifestyle
After the success of Tapir Works Studio at their recently organized ‘PASSION OF OUTDOOR’ event in Bangkok on May 16, 2024, and having expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate, we are excited to commit to conducting a brief interview. During this interview, we will delve into outdoor design products in the Thai market, Tapir Works Studio’s role in the sector, our close relationship with them, and the positive reception our products have received in Thailand.
This event not only provided an opportunity for the Thai outdoor furniture company to enjoy the space alongside their clients but also to officially launch the Tapir Works Studio brand alongside other outdoor furniture brands they represent in Thailand.

1. The “Passion of Outdoors” event, which was recently held in your space on May 16, 2024, in Bangkok, was organized with the intention of enjoying the outdoor environment and, with it, the space with the outdoor brands you work with, including the three brands of Gandia Blasco Group. Could you tell us a little more about the idea behind the event? What was the main experience for the guests? What activities or highlights could you mention
Since we have been operating up to 5 years now, we have never organized the official event for our clients and supporters. This event was our decision to officially introduce our company and the brands we work with to our clients and public.
The main intention is also to thank and convey the messages of why we start the company and how passionate we are to offer the new concept of outdoor furniture design.

EThe concept of this event is to allow guests to enjoy the Mediterranean vibes and fun. We create the overall experiences including visual, sound, and lighting to be warm and cozy. The highlights included every detail from our Tapir Works Studio, to the outside Green Space where our main event located, also Materials Station, Food Line, Display, and even the experience on Stage. We invited Gandia Blasco’s Representative, Mr. Pablo Diaz, and the Guest Speaker from Sham, Sr. Charnchai Chitpatanapaibul, the Associate Director, Head of Design Operations, to give the idea of landscape experience. Shma is one of the most creative landscape architecture firms in Thailand who deliver the work not only in Thailand, but also numerous domestic and international projects. It was our great honour to have everyone here with us.

2. Tapir Works Studio emerged in 2018. Why did you decide to specialize in outdoor furniture? What opportunities did you see in the Asian market for outdoor furniture at that time?
We have been working in the industry long before we decided to start Tapir Works. From our past working year, we saw the emerging demand of outdoor furniture in Thai Market. Back then, there was not many players in the market who successfully delivered the unique and different concept design of ‘outdoor furniture’. We have seen the opportunity and demand, so we decided to take the chance.

3. From 2018 to today, 2024, how has the supply and demand for designer outdoor furniture grown in Southeast Asian countries, especially in Thailand? And what would be its potential for the future?
We can see that the demand of outdoor furniture keeps raising gradually since the COVID situation. Many Thai residents spend more time outdoor, so they pay massive attention to the details of outdoor decorations. We hope we will see the market growing healthier in the future.
4. What are the main trends in outdoor furniture in Thailand at this moment? How do you think these trends will evolve in the coming years?
The trend of outdoor furniture is shaping in a new way. As our mission statement says, ‘We want to create the new world of outdoor furniture in Thailand’, we only want to introduce the total new concept of outdoor furniture to Thai Market. The perception of outdoor furniture used to be perceived as teak and rattan furniture. However, there are a lot more fun idea of how outdoor furniture could be. We try to offer the new design and durable materials which are more sophisticated and utmost functionable. We believe the trends will be gradually changing towards the idea that outdoor furniture can be as beautiful as they can be indoor.

5. What attracted you to the designs of Gandia Blasco Group’s brands that made you decide to sell them in Thailand?
We love the design and brand image of Gandia Blasco, quality of product is also the main strength that we love about Gandia Blasco.
6. What affinity do contemporary Mediterranean-style designs have in this specific market?
We can see the uniqueness and Mediterranean character in Gandia Blasco which we could not see in any other outdoor furniture’s brands. We believe Thai people will also like this vibe and uniqueness.

7. What aspects of our brands’ designs do you think resonate the most with Thai customers? Is there any design or collection in particular that has been especially popular?
Thai customers are fond of houses and residences with various sophisticated design. We can see a lot of beautiful houses here in Thailand. We ideally sure that Gandia Blasco can be a perfect blend in their spaces. Our best sellers would be the 356 & CLIP collections by Diabla, as well as the ONDE, SOLANAS and CAPA collections by GANDIABLASCO.
8. With more than four years working and growing together, how would you describe your relationship with Gandia Blasco Group over the years? Could you share any memorable anecdotes or experiences?
We are a family; brother and sister. We know that we will always be here to support each other. We share the similar work ethic and goal.

9. Besides our brands, you have your own brand and two more outdoor brands. What led you to create your own brand? What differentiates your brand from the others?
Tapir Works has our own identity, which we keep it as our core idea. We always keep our core idea as our goal, so everything we select, as a ‘Tapir Works’ branding, it shows our identity, and that is what differentiates us from others.
10. How do you ensure an excellent customer experience? Could you give some examples of your customer service practices?
We really love what we do and we always do it by heart, customer’s satisfaction and needs is always at top of our team’s mind. For that reason, I believe it ensures the best and utmost excellence of customer’s experience.
