Set within the idyllic natural surroundings of Girona, El Molí de l'Estany is a striking architectural intervention designed by the award-winning RCR Arquitectes. This project reinterprets Catalan rural tradition, fusing matter, water and landscape into a spatial poem. True to their philosophy of blurring the boundaries between built form and nature, the Olot studio has conceived a lightweight structure that subtly floats above the ground, seamlessly integrated amongst the vegetation and the gentle course of the water canal running through the property. The architecture thus becomes a sensory sanctuary where shadows, crystalline reflections and noble materials engage in a permanent dialogue. Every space at El Molí de l'Estany is conceived to celebrate stillness and introspection, offering a serene and immersive experience that pays homage to the understated beauty of the Girona landscape.
The outdoor and indoor equipment naturally complements the poetic language of RCR Arquitectes. Along the banks of the canal's water feature, the dining chairs and loungers from the Cord collection, designed by Groundwork Studio for GANDIABLASCO, blend into the surroundings thanks to their organic and lightweight profiles. Spatial continuity is enhanced by modules from the Mass collection, created by Todd Bracher, arranged across both outdoor areas and indoor spaces to offer flexible, contemporary seating solutions. The ensemble achieves a sculptural expression through the armchairs and coffee tables from the Buit collection, created by Mayice. These pieces are distinguished by their innovative metal mesh and the refined textile weaving developed alongside Kvadrat Febrik; an avant-garde and timeless design honoured with two prestigious international accolades: the Archiproducts Design Awards (Outdoor Category) and the NYCxDESIGN Awards (Outdoor Category).
