Vasijas tejidas, the female gaze on Phoenician art

Gandía Blasco Group presents its most personal project for this year: Vasijas Tejidas, an exhibition curated by Caotics for the firm within the framework of the Madrid Design Festival 2026. From February 13th to March 27th, our showroom will be transformed into a space for dialogue between history, contemporary design, and sustainability.

This exhibition is born as a profound tribute to the Phoenician culture and its immeasurable legacy in the construction of the Mediterranean, a territory that defines our identity and indissoluble bond with light, elegance, and craftsmanship. The Phoenicians, historically known as masters of trade and navigation, not only expanded geographical borders but also wove a network of cultural and technical exchange that even today underpins the Mediterranean essence. Through the gaze of eighteen female creators, this project proposes a reinterpretation of this ancient legacy from a contemporary language, connecting a millennial origin with the perspective of current design. It is an invitation to rediscover the heritage of civilizations that, from the seashore, transformed raw materials into objects of functional and symbolic value.

The exhibition is organized around two collections that breathe the Mediterranean DNA of Gandia Blasco Group: Vasijas Tejidas (Woven Vessels), a series of unique pieces created from the leftovers of the Bandas collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola for the GAN brand; and the Phoenix Collection, a line of contemporary jewelry developed with the surplus materials from the Momos collection by José A. Gandía-Blasco.

For us, the vessel represents a universal symbol of creation and containment, historically linked to female labor and the transmission of knowledge that has traveled through the centuries. From the ancient amphorae that transported oils and pigments to domestic containers, the vessel has been the container of life and culture, a piece where function embraces mysticism. In Vasijas Tejidas, these pieces are situated in a hybrid territory between art and design, becoming objects charged with narrative and emotion that will form part of Caotics’ editorial line, Caotics’ Whims Caprichos de Caotics. Here, craftsmanship is not just technique, but an emotional language that vindicates the role of women as guardians and restorers of creative tradition.

This exhibition landscape has been made possible thanks to the talent and sensitivity of the participating creators, who develop textile vessel pieces and contemporary jewelry according to their discipline and affinity with the group’s brands: Marta Moore (Tenerife), jewelry designer, artisan, and artist; Saskia Bostelman (Madrid), jewelry designer and designer; ELSUR (Madrid), architect, artisan, and designer; Cova Ríos (Madrid), architect, jewelry designer, and artist; Isabel Moltó (Madrid), artist; Iria Martínez (Madrid), interior designer and artist; UA-K (Madrid), architect and designer; Marta Lorca (Madrid), artist and ceramist; Laura Cresspotery (Madrid), artist and ceramist; Nieves Contreras (Valencia), artist and creative director of Lladró; Candela Cort (Madrid), designer; Pepa Reverter (Barcelona), artist and designer; Idoia Cuesta (Galicia), artist and artisan; Helena Rohner (Madrid), jewelry designer; Sybilla (Madrid), fashion designer; Marre Moerel (Madrid), designer; Carlota Gallo (Madrid), industrial designer; Lidia Muro (Madrid), fashion designer, and Teresa Sapey, architect.

We look forward to seeing you in our showroom toshare this journey through craftsmanship and shared culture, celebrating a way of creating that respects the past while building the future through sustainability and design.
