2024: A Year of Recognition for Our Artistic Creativity and Innovative Designs

As the year comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the highlights and achievements that marked 2024. This year, the three Gandía Blasco Group brands received several prestigious awards and honorable mentions in international competitions. What stands out most to us is that some of our most artistic, expressive, and innovative designs captured the attention of expert juries worldwide.

Best of Year Awards 2024

The Best of Year Awards celebrated both the sustainable and aesthetic qualities of our recent designs: the LA GERIA-LANZAROTE rug collection and the LINES collection were recognised as Honourees in the Residential Rug category, while the NOMAD collection won in the Environmental Impact category. These accolades further consolidate the global success of our designs.

LINES by Mayice

Among the year’s top honours, our LINES carpet collection, designed by Mayice for GAN, received the Archiproducts Design Awards in the Decor category. This design exemplifies our commitment to merging craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. Lines highlights the natural beauty of undyed natural wool, blending traditional handcrafting techniques with fresh, contemporary formats.

LINES is a collection of rugs with long, undyed yarns that seeks to show wool in all its essence and splendour. Its long-pile surfaces, meticulously crafted on handlooms by artisans in India, evoke the sensation of running your hand over a sheep’s back. The irregular shapes of the rugs are designed to fit together seamlessly, allowing for creative compositions.

CACAO by Odosdesign

Another one of our highlight of 2024 was earning a Silver Award in the Product Design – Outdoor Furniture category at the ADCV Awards for the CACAO chaise lounge, designed by Odosdesign for Diabla. The Cacao Lounger is a striking piece inspired by the geometric aesthetics of a chocolate bar. Its inflatable mattress can float on water or transform into a comfortable lounger when paired with its lightweight, removable frame. This portable, adaptable design is both playful and functional.

When placed on its structure, the folds resemble classic upholstery, reminiscent of Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona series, making it equally at home indoors and outdoors.

IRIS by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco

IRIS table collection, designed by our creative director Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret for GANDIABLASCO, was another standout this year. It garnered three distinctions: a finalist position in the Archiproducts Design Awards and two honourable mentions in the DNA Paris Design Awards and NYCxDesign Awards. In additionally, the IRIS tables were showcased alongside PLASTIC RIVERS and other works by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón in the Design Without Borders exhibition at the Kiscelli Museum in Budapest.

The Iris collection reflects Alejandra’s artistic exploration of colour, inspired by sunrises and sunsets along the coast since 2015. Using digital vitrifiable printing, Alejandra transferred her photographic works onto glass pieces, creating vibrant, mosaic-like tabletops that allow light to pass through, casting dynamic colours onto the floor. The effect is reminiscent of both ceramic mosaics and stained glass.

GBMODULAR & LA GERIA-LANZAROTE by José A. Gandía-Blasco

Last but not least, two designs by our president, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, also received honourable mentions at the NYCxDesign Awards: the GBMODULAR collection for GANDIABLASCO and the LA GERIA-LANZAROTE carpet for GAN. Both designs, alongside Alejandra’s SUNSET, were featured in the Carpe Diem exhibition in Paris.

We are extremely proud that the GBMODULAR collection’s innovative construction system has been recognised with this prestigious honour. The GBMODULAR collection embodies GANDIABLASCO’s essence: a sophisticated and minimalist design language rooted in versatility. Based on a single aluminum profile, the system uses an innovative, hidden clipping mechanism to create an array of furniture types, from seats and tables to shelves and accessories. Its clean lines and material purity reflect the elegance and timelessness of GANDIABLASCO’s design philosophy.

The LA GERIA-LANZAROTE rugs pay tribute to the unique viticulture of La Geria, where grapevines grow in volcanic gravel pits shielded by semicircular stone walls.

José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales translated this extraordinary landscape into rugs using hand-tufted techniques, achieving varying textures and volumes within each piece.
