The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona Embraces Gandía Blasco Group Design for the America’s Cup

From August to October 2024, Barcelona will host the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, the world’s oldest international regatta. For this prestigious event, Gandía Blasco Group has collaborated with the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona and Omega, the official watch sponsor, to design an inviting outdoor lounge that embodies elegance and relaxation.

Located in one of the Real Club Náutico’s courtyards, this outdoor lounge is dedicated to Omega and sits under the canopy of a striking ficus tree. Furnished with pieces from our GANDIABLASCO and GAN brands, the lounge offers a series of distinct “islands” with varying styles and functions, inviting guests to enjoy a serene retreat amid the excitement of the regatta.

Key pieces from our GANDIABLASCO brand include armchairs from the DNA collection by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and the SOLANAS collection by Daniel Germani, as well as SOLANAS coffee tables. These collections were selected for their refined aesthetics, contemporary design, and the comfort of their generous upholstered volumes. Our goal was to create an outdoor space with the coziness of an interior, in line with our evolving vision: Outdoors is the new indoors.

To enhance the comfort and define the individual lounge areas, we included outdoor rugs from the GARDEN LAYERS collection by Patricia Urquiola for GAN. Hand-loomed from recycled PET fibres, these rugs not only provide a soft, luxurious feel but also underscore our commitment to eco-sustainable design, making them ideal for outdoor environments.

For a more informal lounge area, we chose the SAIL beanbag poufs by Héctor Serrano and a coffee table from the FLAT collection by Mario Ruiz, both award-winning designers recognised with the Premio Nacional de Diseño, en 2024 y 2016 respectivamente.

In tribute to Omega, each island features custom cushions adorned with the brand’s colours and logo, adding a personalised touch to the space.

With over 140 years of history, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona is an icon in the world of sailing. Located along Barcelona’s scenic docks, the club promotes and develops sailing through a wide range of activities and competitions. Our design has transformed the club’s open-air space, reserved for Omega, into a tranquil, welcoming area perfect for enjoying a drink, holding informal meetings, or hosting events.
