Between the ephemeral and the eternal, connecting breeze and memory. Summer outdoor spaces with TIMELESS and LA SIESTA in a project by Anna & Eugeni Bach
The house “Dirk and the chocolate factory” is an extraordinary setting in which to welcome the summer from outdoor spaces featuring some of our designs, such as the TIMELESS collection and the refreshing LA SIESTA bottle. Located in Girona, this residential project has been carried out by the studio of Anna & Eugeni Bach, who have rehabilitated an old chocolate factory and have transformed it into a home and studio.

Located in the center of the town of La Bisbal, this late 19th century industrial building stands out for its structure with stone walls and three open-plan floors, each with a characteristic forging, combining structures and metal beams with Catalan vaulting, wooden joists and brick roofs finished with ceramic tiles.
The program’s outdoor spaces take advantage of the Mediterranean climate, now including a small pool in the center of the courtyard and a semi-covered terrace with metal beams and a lattice of reeds that plays with the sunlight and offers powerful shadows. The first floor living room, porch, kitchen, dining room and second floor terrace are arranged around it, creating a cozy atmosphere and harmoniously connecting the interiors with the outdoor environment.

From the heart of the refurbished dwelling, the courtyard, TIMELESS transports us to a universe where time stops and, like the rest of the project, contributes to a fluid connection between interior and exterior. The pieces of the series, created in 2018 by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and Borja García, speak a formal language based on a simple geometry executed with materials such as powder-coated welded aluminium, teak wood and ultra-compact Dekton® mineral surfaces. With the combination of these materials, we guarantee resistance, functionality and an aesthetic born with the will to remain in time.
With a discreet and forceful design, four TIMELESS sectional modules make up a large sofa that silently lets itself be embraced by the air, water and earth that surround it. The white of the structures frames the seats and backrests made of polyurethane foam rubber and polyester fiber and upholstered in Jover Atlas Plain technical outdoor fabric in white with a bouclé texture, very soft and natural, which conveys warmth. The contrast is added by some of the cushions, upholstered with Sunbrella Domino Joker fabric in summer colors and iridescent tones that bring sophistication and intensity. Next to the sofa is the coffee table with removable legs and a Dekton® Zenith surface with a clean, matte finish.

In another area of the patio, the TIMELESS chaise lounges convey the soul of the collection, inspired by architectural rationalism and characterized by pure lines, neutral colors and the absence of superfluous ornamentation. Meticulously balanced for maximum comfort, these chaise longuesare upholstered in Kvadrat’s white Patio Outdoor fabric, made from a highly durable Trevira CS yarn specially developed for outdoor use. Next to it, the square side table with Dekton® Aura table top complements the setting.

Between the imposing rustic-style glass doors and a stone’s throw from the pool, four TIMELESS XS lounge chairs —with cushions upholstered in white Patio Outdoor fabric – and two side tables from the same collection – with Dekton® Zenith tabletops – create a casual and personalized refuge thanks to the touch of color of the cushions covered with Eden Blu fabric.

On the terracotta tiles of the Empordà farmhouse rest the friendly contemporary jugs LA SIESTA, the reissue of a design icon that recovers traditional materials and textures. These terracotta bottles, designed by Alberto Martínez, Héctor Serrano and Raky Martínez, embody the mix between tradition and innovation, as they combine the look of a mineral water bottle with the advantages of a traditional object of the Mediterranean way of living and eating that connects us with nature, light and the passion for outdoor life.
