Jury for the 13th GANDIABLASCO International Outdoor Furniture Design Contest

If you are involved with design in any way and are under 35 years old this post will be of interest: GANDIABLASCO launches its 13th International Outdoor Furniture Design Contest. The subject is as wide ranging as your imagination: it can be a piece of furniture, an accessory, a lamp…. You decide. Inspired by DIABLA, the new outdoor furniture brand of GANDIABLASCO, defined by its daring and colourful approach to design. The contest provides two cash prizes, for 2,000 and 1,000 Eur. respectively for first and second place that will be awarded at the Salone del Mobile in Milan 2019.

The jury on this occasion will be made up of five professionals with a background in architecture, design, fashion, art and journalism ready to support the work of emerging talents.

José A. Gandia-Blasco Canales

President, Creative and Communications Director of GANDIABLASCO A.S., as well as an enthusiastic fan of architecture, his creative work is inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle, and is influenced by architects who share his passion for the conceptual design of furniture created for outdoor spaces. He has designed many of the pieces and furniture collections as well as the textiles made by GANDIABLASCO currently sold internationally. His vision combines inspiration found in the classics with innovative materials. The result: pieces of timeless beauty.



Ana Domínguez Siemens

With a degree in the History of Art and specialising in Design with London’s Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Ana Dominguez Siemens has been writing articles and books about design for three decades, since 1989 in fact, as well as exhibition catalogues. She has in addition curated a number of exhibitions amongst which is ‘Fuera de lugar’ under the auspices of ADI_FAD’s Fad Fest and at the D-espacio of Centro Cibeles in Madrid.



José Luís Clemente

José Luis Clemente has a degree in Geography and History, specialising in the History of Art from the University of Valencia. He broadened his studies in History of Art at the Technische Universität Berlin Institut für Kunstwissenschaft. His professional activity has been mostly in the area of art criticism, organising exhibitions as well as research and teaching the Department of Audiovisual Communication, Documentation and History of Art at Valencia’s Polytechnic University.



Juan Vidal

Juan Vidal belongs to the fourth generation of tailors in his family, he won the prestigious ModaFad award before finishing his formal studies and since then has participated with both national and international catwalk fashion shows. Over this time Juan Vidal has also been recognised with numerous awards for his work including National Award for fashion from the Ministry of Industry and Best Collection at the MBFWMadrid 2017. Currently he combines working as the creative director of his own firm that bears his name, with teaching at the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid.



Barozzi/Veiga

Barozzi / Veiga is an architectural practice founded in Barcelona by Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga in 2004 with projects that include cultural, educational and residential buildings as well as public commissions. Since starting their studio they have worked internationally on public and private projects and have received a number of prestigious awards including the Italian Gold Medal for Architecture, a FAD award for the International Promotion of the Arts and Design in Catalonia as well as one from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) for International Excellence, amongst others.
