JIAN, contemporary Asian design

Elegant, restrained and timeless are the adjectives that best define JIAN, the outdoor furniture collection designed for GANDIABLASCO by the architects Neri&Hu.

JIAN is an extension of the architectural thinking that represents the work of this designer couple who founded their multi-discipline office “Neri&Hu design and research office” in 2004 which is based in Shanghai and London.

This is a collection of elegant and restrained outdoor furniture, inspired by the Chinese character “JIAN/ between” meaning “space, time and people”, also referring to areas of traditional Chinese houses that are on the threshold of inside and outside, in the courtyards.

“We wanted to design a collection that had a timeless quality, that captured the essence of space and time, the sky and the earth, something that would lend poetry to outdoor spaces and that offers a sanctuary of peace from the bustle of daily life”, explain Lyndon Neri and Rosanna Hu.

Based on meticulous research of both context and performance, the collection is manufactured from powder-coated welded aluminium profiles, available in white, anthracite, bronze, sand as well as 100% recyclable polyethylene. The mats are made of polyurethane foam coated with removable Sunbrella and Batyline® waterproof fabric coverings that can be customized in different colours and finishes.

JIAN includes different typologies of outdoor furniture to create the JIAN space desired by the individual client: a refuge from everyday stresses that can be enjoyed 365 days of the year on home terraces or larger contract applications.
