FLAT is the GANDIABLASCO collection created by Mario Ruiz, National Design Award: every detail underlines its honesty, functionality and lasting timeless style.
The minimal purity, almost architectonic of the outdoor furniture collection has converted it into a favourite option for diverse projects that share a common trait in their search for elegant functionality. The comfort and versatility of the FLAT sofas and tables are perfectly showcased at the Harris Residence in Phoenix (United States), created by Daniel Germani Designs. The Argentinean architect designed the SOLANAS collection for GANDIABLASCO, presented at the last edition of the Milan furniture fair.
The light weight structure of FLAT integrates easily with the elegant terrace of the Barcelona Hotel H10 Port Vell, adjacent to the Born neighbourhood. During the day this rooftop terrace becomes a Spa furnished with the FLAT chaise-longue organised around the pool. While at night the terrace converts to a bar-lounge designed with FLAT sofas, armchairs and tables where guests can enjoy a drink and privileged views over the port.
In the same Catalan Capital interior designers of the Grupo Tragaluz selected the FLAT furniture collection to furnish the roof terrace of the very beautiful 5 star Hotel Omm, located on Paseo de Gracia. A unique space with views over Casa Milá, the Sagrada Familia and the lights of Monjuïc where live music and great food served in the centre of Barcelona keep guests entertained.
The FLAT outdoor furniture collection was also chosen as the most suitable option by interior design architect Oshi for fitting out the luxurious yacht Azalea Cruise, a ship that navigates the Indian Ocean around the Maldives cruising its numerous colourful coral reefs. The high quality furniture manufactured by GANDIABLASCO makes it particularly suitable because of its resistance to sea water exposure.
The modular nature of FLAT furniture collection makes all the pieces suitable for combining on private terraces of villas. Like the upper level of the Manhattan Penthouse in the emblematic building located on 5th Avenue in New York. The interior design project was carried out by the renowned Studio V Architects, who also opted for the GANDIABLASCO collection.
The FLAT tables and armchairs designed by Mario Ruiz for GANDIABLASCO work in any type of environment, in this specific case the spaces around a house located in Vilnius, Lithuania surrounded by woods. The tubular aluminium structure of the furniture offers a contemporary contrast with the timber used for the roof and flooring of the house.
The career of Mario Ruiz, who received the National Design Award in 2016 under the Professional category, includes more than 45 awards to date, some of them international (If, Red Dot, Design Plus and Wallpaper). He graduated in Industrial Design from Barcelona’s Elisava school, the city where he founded his first studio Costa Deisgn in 1996. He has worked in diverse areas including technology, office furniture and lighting for companies from around the world (Teknion, Arflex, Steelcase, Offecct, Joquer, Schiavello, etc.), always true to his austere vision of design. He believes in the committed search for simplicity and the elegance of the functional.
Last April during the Salone del Mobile in Milan the Instituto Cervantes there dedicated an exhibition to a retrospective of his work. His most recent designs were displayed, including 26 selected objects amongst which was the FLAT outdoor furniture collection.
