2016 will go down in memory as an exceptional one for GANDIABLASCO. Among its many achievements is the awarding of the National Design Prize for Mario Ruiz, distinguished collaborator with the brand and author of the FLAT and FLAT TEXTIL outdoors collections.
The Ministry for the Economy and Competitiveness bestowed the award in the Professional category in recognition for his versatile and polyvalent career in different design sectors, and his international profile as well as his enduring timeless style characterised by clean lines.
We at GANDIABLASCO are celebrating being able to count on such a renowned colleague who designs for the world and for tomorrow.
His signature is more than obvious in the stools, hammocks, beds, modular sofas, poufs, picnic tables and other elements of the FLAT collection which this year expanded to include a round configuration chill-out bed. In all these pieces the minimalist design and architectural sensibility of Mario Ruiz can be seen.
FLAT TEXTIL is the lighter and more pared back version also designed by Mario Ruiz for GANDIABLASCO. The collection includes functional pieces like chairs with or without back rests, chaise longue, armchairs and picnic tables that feature a slightly more subtle structure with the emphasis on comfortable seating, all the items use a water resistant fabric.
The extraordinary career of Mario Ruiz (Alicante, 1975) commenced in 1995 at Costa Design, the studio he founded in Barcelona which focused on industrial products and technology. Over the 21 years since then Ruiz has worked on more than 600 projects for hundreds of individual clients from around the world, amongst which are included Siemens, Steelcase, Teknion and Offecct, as well as GANDIABLASCO.
The National Prize is added to the more than 40 awards that he has won over his career and includes several Red Dot, IF and Design Plus recognitions.
